SundRoot

Already real

This isn't just a vision on paper. It's already rolling.

SundRoot builds concretely, enterprise by enterprise, in the Malmö region. Here's what's already rolling — and what starts next.

Women's cooperative in Lindängen

The startup process is already underway: foreign-born women give themselves fair jobs and lift themselves, their families and their neighborhoods.

2026 autumn

Händiga Laget

A trades cooperative — a shared platform for electricians, plumbers, carpenters and technicians, where part of the profit goes to the common fund.

2027 spring

Delstuga & the housing fund

Shared nature cottages generate income to the fund from bookings and renting out to travelers. The fund then matches the next group's starting capital to get the next cottage into the system. A chain reaction to gather the money and in the future invest into affordable hounsing and community land trusts with buildings for common benefit.

Exploring

Local funds & mutual aid

A network of local companies contributing to local funds to lift neighborhoods together — especially those that need it the most — a chain reaction where local funds contribute to Malmö fund so that the next area gets its help.

Exploring

Education & incubation

Continuous dialogue with folk high schools, popular education, vocational colleges and academia to realize ideas in cooperative principles as part of the ecosystem. To identify and incubate effective cooperative initiatives and companies to startup or transform. Surplus from those co-ops would also feed the common fund for common god

Planned 2027–28

Impact measurement & investment platform

Impact-oriented SROI and an investment platform. Preparatory talks with partners are underway; full focus once more enterprises are part of the ecosystem.

SundRoot

SundRoot is still early in its journey: the project is building the foundations for democratic economies and cooperative communities, turning vision into practice.

To kick-start these developments - funds, people, competences and resources will be mobilized. SundRoot is open to engage with anyone willing to contribute - individuals or organizations, public institutions, civil society, enterprises, and people who want to support effective and lasting societal change.

The SundRoot Fund uses Open Collective so contributions and finances can be followed in the open. Massvis.se is the fiscal host and takes care of economic accounting and administration.
